I've spent twenty years doing what most only talk about.

I spent over a decade in real estate - feasibility, redevelopment, asset management, finance, and CMBS trading at Deutsche Bank. Then six years in Columbia University's financial engineering department, building AI, machine learning, and deep learning applications for major U.S. banks, real estate firms, and consulting firms.

Doing both taught me about the communication gap: real estate professionals don’t understand technology and technology professionals don’t understand real estate. Projects fail not because the technology doesn’t work, but because nobody can translate from one side to the other. Real estate people can't tell whether a problem is computationally feasible. Technologists don’t understand the nuances and intuition that real estate decisions are based on. Both sides nod, the project gets funded, and fourteen months later there's a tool nobody uses.

Parallax was founded on a simple observation: many of the hardest problems in real estate technology occur not because the technology is inadequate, but because the people who understand the technology and the people who understand the real estate problem often speak different languages.

Parallax exists to close that gap - not by selling the latest AI trend, but by helping real estate leaders make better decisions about technology.

Teaching

I co-instruct Columbia University's AI in Real Estate course with Dr. Ali Hirsa and Dr. Hardeep Johar, and I've taught AI integration to graduate technology students and more than 400 real estate professionals worldwide. That teaching background shapes how I run engagements: the goal is that your team can do the reasoning themselves after I leave.

Before all of this

I served in a U.S. Navy Maritime Expeditionary Unit, commanding armed small-craft boats on anti-piracy and anti-terrorism missions off the coasts of Djibouti and Somalia.
