Parallax is led by Josh Panknin, whose background spans military, investment and capital markets experience, and applied AI research.  Josh was a member of a U.S. Navy Maritime Expeditionary Unit where he commanded armed small-craft boats conducting anti-piracy and anti-terrorism missions on the Horn of Africa off the northern coast of Djibouti and Somalia.  Josh also has over a decade of experience in various real estate roles including feasibility, redevelopment, asset management, finance, and CMBS trading at Deutsche Bank, as well as six years in Columbia University’s financial engineering department developing AI, machine learning, and deep learning applications for major U.S. banks, real estate firms, and consulting firms.  This combination positions Parallax at the intersection of domain expertise, engineering rigor, and proven leadership in demanding environments.

Josh has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a Master’s degree in Finance from San Diego State University, a Master’s degree in Real Estate Finance from NYU, and is pursuing a degree in applied mathematics.
